UV Sterilizer

Deltec T5 UV sterilizer are compact and far superior to conventional UV devices in terms of effectiveness. The use of special quartz T5 tubes and quartz protective tubes achieves the highest possible radiation intensity.

The main function of a Deltec UV sterilizer is:
  • Combating suspended algae: : It is the most effective remedy for ‘green water’. The radiation causes algae to clump together so that they can be captured by the normal filter.
  • Germ reduction:A UV sterilizer reduces the so-called germ pressure (bacteria, viruses, fungal spores). This relieves the immune system of the fish and is particularly helpful for sensitive species or outbreaks of disease.
  • Elimination of cloudiness: In the event of bacterial blooms (milky water), the UV device often ensures crystal-clear water within a few days.

Important instructions for use

  • No continuous use necessary: Many experts advise against permanent operation, as UV light can also destroy important chelates (e.g. in iron fertilisers), which could impair plant growth.
  • Safety of filter bacteria: Beneficial bacteria in the filter or on surfaces remain unaffected, as only organisms floating freely in the water are irradiated.
  • Maintenance: The UV-C lamp loses its power over time and should generally be replaced after approx. 9000 hours.
